Rendering this shot, and it's worth sharing. While the texture is driven from the image the "landscape" doesn't follow the image. Instead it applies subtle texture details seen after rendering. Beautiful.

Here's GIF showing how I set up my lighting layers, for those who are curious. The trick is to set them up individually, without having to worry about colors while rendering. While I was painting the different light sources and shadows, I did them in black and white.

To me, these are not styles so much as different ways of rendering. People tell me they can spot my work, but it’s hard for me to see my own style, let alone the nuances of it. I think the way we see ourselves and our art is often distorted.

Oh I love having different "styles" or approaches to art, it's just fun and always exciting to try something new. I basically go for cartoony, semi realism, flat colours, line art, rendering...it all counts!
