I completely agree with this! While studying the YI style and digging up so many refs ended up separating my commission options for it in 2 seeing that the YI DS promo art is pretty much the modern designs with sketchy lineart. So i totally see where you’re coming from.

Not sure if I like the painted look that I was trying to go for on this since it doesnt work well with the lineart. I'm halfway tempted to scrap it and just try cell shading instead.

For my first drawing on the new screen tablet I wanted to go for a style that asks a lot of control for lineart. So I went with the ol familiar.
