Yes!! I arrived at the same solution as well. Really characterful. It's one of my pet peeves when cartoon octopuses have a made-up mouth in the middle of their "face". It'd be like if an octopus drew humans with their mouth between their legs.

They we're an apple, in a lab. They got injected with a virus which made them grow a ton of leaves, made their stem overgrow, and melted their legs which then formed them into half of a ghost.

so you use lines. the way you want the legs to go, just get a single line to get an idea of the very /front/ of the leg. and then you put curved lines and suddenly it feels like it's not so 2d and flat, and u can actually Tell the way the leg is bending
