Heavily inspired by the old noir detective films from the 40s/50s. I love the stark contrast they were forced to use between tones because of the lack of colour.

Fun fact: while doing research for Shojo Manga's Lost Generation, I discovered that legendary shojo/josei mangaka Masako Watanabe did one of those. She's literally been working since the 50s.
