At one stage of development, Splatoon's main characters were originally rabbits, rather than squid-kid hybrids. This was because rabbits are territorial creatures by nature. However, it was changed, as the ink mechanic didn't make sense with rabbits.

I'd keep the cast. They were solid. But the suits needed to be closer to the source material. We got multicolored Iron Mans. Zords needed more development, too. Overall I think it needed more thought and intention in early development like these concepts by Nebezial.
