Simple bad PRNG, visualized with a marching algorithm.
Some patterns are visible, that should not occurs with a good PRNG.

Haven't tried cell shading in a long time, thought I wasn't any good at it, soft shading just seemed to get me better results.

Though I wanted to see if I've gotten any better with cell shading since.

This involved practice in may regions, but most notably self restraint to avoid over-rendering and I'm super happy with the results.

It really is. What especially comes to mind is a lot of Genesis games. They exploited this too and came out with some great results. Pic below is from a Retroarch shader and not an actual CRT but you get the point.
