I think Morrison's run is the best place to start the modern era. It's a bit wierd for new readers but it sets up Scott and Emma, Xavier leaving... basically the pilars of 2000s X-Men.

All he has to do is believe. I love how Morrison gives Kyle Rayner a huge chance to shine, even if the Kryptonite bullet got through.

Also, a reminder that Semeiks, Rollins, and Garrahy's art is gorgeous throughout this series.
