"Today is the anniversary of Stonewall, where it was mostly BIPOC fighting for gay rights. Now we are in the middle of the Black Lives Matter movement and that includes Black LGBTQ+ individuals. Don’t distract everyone." -

"How many years has it taken people to realize that we are all brothers and sisters and human beings in the human race?" Remember the events of Be proud and never stop fighting. https://t.co/GfVD9krxb5 (art by clover-core)

I like to listen to podcasts while I paint. Recently, I listened to ep 225 () & ep 247 - both discussing the Stonewall Riots. Both podcasts mention LGBTQ+ pioneer Marsha P Johnson who's life came to an early & tragic ending. (1/2)

Today marks 51 years since the Stonewall uprising that sparked a global push for LGBT rights and from which we take our name. Our work is made possible by those brave members of our community who fought back and continue to fight back today. We continue in their name

We remember the Stonewall uprising and the vital role Black LGBTQ people played in history. Pride is intersectional with trailblazers like Stormé DeLarverie, Marsha P. Johnson and Miss Major leading the way. Their legacy lives on in the fight for freedom and justice.

As Pride begins, I’d like to emphasize that it's not just a celebration - it’s an ongoing movement. That was the spirit of Marsha P. Johnson, who used the Stonewall riots as a starting point for her activism.

Today, I’m grateful for Marsha, and those who follow her lead.
