Aletigre seems to be a very ancient species, with the oldest fossils being 2 Million years old, its many adaptations might be the result of them evolving in a completely different ecosystem from the one they live in today,
It's humbling to realize that Paleontology and Mosasaurus are both turning 200 years old this year (especially considering the history of both are linked).
It's even more humbling that the collection of fossils has been occuring across multiple cultures for centuries before.

Finally got around to updating my dragon-sona; she’s based off of several dreams & visions I’ve had of being in the deep ocean and shallow tropics. She likes to collect precious gemstones, seashells, fossils, & anything shiny or unique found on the coastline. She needs a name 😊
Eopneumatosuchus is one of many croc species found in the Early Jurassic Kayenta formation of Diné lands. Paleontologists are working more closely with the Diné leadership to better acknowledge the history of the land these fossils come from and collaborate with the local people.
