Wow.. It's been years since I was gaming on a proper CRT. (And respect to those who are dedicated enough to still do that.) My last monitor on my A4000 was actually a Philips 15" LCD panel. 😮 So the curvature of the ship as you fly over it looks really freaky to me. 😋

The sad part is homebrewers aren't allowed to use these techniques as everyone either goes with Emulation, LCD displays and RGB Scart (which is clear as emulation even on CRTs) making things look ugly where the intent was to smoothen things up. I've had complaints over this!

Yeah, I reckon it depends on the value of the colours mixed. That still is the same these days with sharp LCD screens to be honest. Colours close in value will blend nicely.

Here is an Amiga 500 pic by me, where the bg gradient is just 2 colours and it blends fine.
