Okay I got a new shading style that's pretty similar but different and it's better than what I can do now. The shadings are softer now and makes the drawing stand out more

Progress on large commission. I love the way with oil paint you can soften detail the day after, because the paint takes a while to hard dry. Especially on wood. Rubbing and smoothing. Pushing back and bringing to the fore, one small area can be subject to many interventions.

I've been enjoying adding things like dark circles, freckles&redness with coloured pencils on top of the markers is something. It really adds something to a character design. I experimented with a brown fineliner for the softer lines around her eyes&I really like the effect.
