Happy #AppreciateADragonDay!! 🐉
Here's a painting I did last year of Ancalagon, the largest dragon in Tolkien's world of LOTR.
will never stop obsessing over tolkien's own concept art of the middle earth
I'm a little late, but it was recently J.R.R Tolkien's 129th birthday. Lord Of The Rings got me through some tough times last year, so I will always be thankful for this means imagination and the world and characters he created.
Heard it was Tolkien's birthday, so I'll celebrate with my best boy Samwise 👏🎉🎂

Remembering J.R.R. Tolkien's birthday anniversary with this portrait I´ve made some time ago. Thanks for everything you gave us! #Tolkien #tolkienbirthday
One of Tolkien's Valar (Powers of Arda) is Estë the Gentle, the Vala of Sleep. She loves a tree-shadowed lake called Lórellin (Dream Pool). Estë heals hurt and weariness, and her name in Quenya means "rest".
"Grey is her raiment; and rest is her gift".

As it's the anniversary of Tolkien's birth this piece feels appropriate.
Spiders and Flies.
My artbook launches on 2/2/21. This painting will be in it. The preview is here: https://t.co/PiVHZkmR6E #middleearth #tolkien #tolkienart #fantasyart #fantasyartwork #fantasypainting

Alternative sketch to what is on the drafting table this week, an interpretation from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion.
There are many interesting stories behind translating Tolkien's works. One of such stories that I read for the first time was the translation of The Hobbit into Hawaiian:
"Ka Hopita: a i 'ole, I Laila a Ho'i Hou mai" (The Hobbit: or There and Back Again).

'Welcome back to the Prancing Pony Podcast, home of plausible speculation about Tolkien's Legendarium." Enjoy this preview of tomorrow's release, Episode 190!
The artwork used for the cover is Tolkien's painting called "The Land of Pohja", the name of a location in Kalevala. This is one of Tolkien's experiments with symbolic, abstract, and imaginative scenes inspired by "strange visions", which he did in around 1911.
Cat-related characters in Tolkien legendarium (Tevildo, the early version of Sauron & Queen Beruthiel of Gondor) are described in unsavory manner. Even Tolkien's letter for his fan jokingly described cats as fauna of Mordor, but I think they're cool.

For #Tolkientober Day 23 — redraw a piece of Tolkien's art. I painted Glaurung on his way to ruin Túrin's life.
combing through Tolkien's art looking for a piece to redraw today...I am just so delighted by his work, especially the ones that are more like doodles
Funky pattern button up designs I would love to have:
- Mollymauk's coat #CriticalRole
- Something LotR/The Hobbit (maybe based on Tolkien's illustrations?)
- Japanese classic Sonic game cover designs
