I'll also put today's piece next to the underpainting (namely a Gradient Map overtop my value sketch). Focuses on cooler midtones, that way adding the warm pops of lights and darks really sell both the warms and the cools with not much extra effort

Fun thing about this one was not only using the brush and pen pressure to just zone out and have fun, BUTTTTT was able to wrangle the Gradient Map settings to work as an underpainting.

It's amazing how much it speeds up a workflow for getting cohesive colors!

Artists are notoriously underpaid and underpriced and undervalued. There’s art out here for everyone and all budgets. It’s ok if an artist is out of your price range, but for most their rates are very justified and still usually not high enough
