Sometimes it's as simple as zooming out, squinting, and asking yourself:
"what's my palette?"
"does this convey anything about the character?"
"how legible is this?"
"how much of this design has a functional, visual purpose?"
"Does he need giant quarters in his pants?"

In the Library on the Comet Observatory in Super Mario Galaxy, there are framed pictures above the fireplace that are too far from the camera to view clearly (top). Zooming in reveals that one of them is a stylized painting of Rosalina with a Luma (texture in the bottom right).
Part of an art trade I did with @Blaffeeytv on instagram of one of their characters and I love how this turned out so much! :DD zooming through the Stars 🌌🌌🌟🌟

Here's Phosphora zooming in for a shocking #CutieSaturday! I really hope we get another Kid Icarus game in the future cause I wanna see more of these characters. Anyway I hope you enjoy!🌟~
zoomin on them icon edits (with i forgot to mention in the previous pic despite them clearly being there)
I enjoy teasing art by zooming in so much you can't friggin see what it's about anymore - but some people guess right and it's cool :D
I'll jump on the #oldmiddlenew meme!

It sure seems like I've kept zooming in slowly over the last 11 years while also leeching color and getting way more intense with backgrounds.
when you’re making lines, changing brushes, zooming in and out on ur canvas on procreate but people still look over shoulder and be like “omg did you draw that?”
