This makes me think of the RX-78-2's evolution over time to reflect those changing sensibilities, people have more or less accepted the "refined" one as the definitive design, but the original Okawara design sure didn't feature any panel lines, let alone functional "skirts".

I recently sketched some outfits for me characters! XD Ainur dresses neatly, but it has to be very functional and not have any ornaments. Her style is fairly masculine, and otherwise she uses very dark and neutral colors, but she likes bright red.
