question... what do you guys think the name of this angular and clean line style is? i've been adapting this style from artists who do this type of thing and so far i've only heard of "minimalist vector" artstyle or "WarioWare" artstyle

Imaishi was definitely a fan of Gainax’s earlier work, evident by this illustration. Note the angularity, hard black outlines, and frenetic movement, which are all part and parcel of Imaishi’s style.

i think i might fit the angular style😊 these examples have pretty vibrant colours but i can work with subdued colors as well

Change the head shape right off the bat; it can be a screen face or eyes or whatever, but something more angular.
What can also help is something exotic at major articulation points (I personally recommend misfit's bubble effect for your character)
