He had his first exhibit in 1909. Along with Klimt, Schiele was also influenced by Kokoschka. Having integrated their ideas he created his own style. The Artist’s Sister (1908), Gerti Schiele (1909), Male Nude Crouching (1909) & Self-portrait (1909)

His early portraits of his sisters show a brother’s regard & an authentic depiction of his love for them. The Artist’s Sisters Alvilde, Ida & Henriette (1827), A Girl with Basket (c1827) & Interior at St Bendt’s Church at Ringsted (1829)

Today we celebrate Jean-Léon Gérôme. His fascination with the Middle East, and Egypt in particular, is evident in ‘The Master of the Hounds’, painted in 1871 and available for sale. The artwork testifies to the French artist’s impressive skill and attention to detail.

I didn’t say using Momoa as a model was a problem. I guess I’m old school and prefer it when Conan doesn’t look like an actor, but springs mostly from the artist’s imagination – Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo, Ken Kelly, Earl Norem to name just a few of my favorites.

The freedom of Italy, away from strict ‘morality’ at home would allow him greater emotional & creative freedom. The Artist in his Studio (1907), Young Girl (1911) & the Artist’s Bedroom in Civita d’Antino (1911)

The artist’s painting of Ambrogio suggests a major part of his fascination with Italy & it’s freedom for foreigners, especially gay ones. Ambrogio is literally encouraging ‘come hither’! Ambrogio, Civita d’Antino (1883) & Masquerade (1882) & King Solomon (1888)
