ゲオルク・ヴィルヘルム・パープスト監督作、パンドラの箱 (1929)を再見する。純粋だが道徳観の欠如した女性を待ち受ける過酷な運命。その虜になった男も女も全員に不幸が訪れるという、非悪女としてのファムファタールの造形が素晴らしい。初公開当時の酷評も後年の再評価も共に頷ける早すぎた作品。
