What a story! Lena Bergner (1906–1981) was German, a part of the group, but her most famous piece (Metro, 1932) was done and actually produced (!) in Soviet Russia, as a textile design! Fortunately, she managed to escape the country in 1936.

By the time this happened, she had divorced already. Later in life, she kept her art 'useful': she worked in textile designs and postcards. This little painting, to me, shows just how fine any art that is not technically 'fine art' can be. This was Lydia Mei. (6/?)
