Today on # ClickInMovies:

Richard Fleischer's THE DON IS DEAD, starring Robert Forster and Anthony Quinn, is a gangster saga that is perhaps Hollywood’s most underrated mob movie of the 1970s.

Here's a fun fact:

If you consider the Crisis tie-in comic canon, then Lyla/ Harbinger was trying to recruit the 1940's Fleischer cartoon version of Superman to be on the team to fight Crisis, but she was too late.

Basically, imagine S&L's Pilot version of Tyler in Crisis 😅

Bruce's original design for STAS goes full Schuster/Fleischer with his look and a hybrid of this and the JL look would be my ideal Superman

I always read it as a Schuster/Fleischer nod, what with Batman getting those Detective Comics 27 ears... I can see how that Swan-ish, distinguished aging got lost in translation but I appreciate the attempt!

Also there was a distinct background style difference between the studios at the time:
- Hanna-Barbera had a more graphic-design approach,
- Disney had a semi-realistic style without outlines.
- Fleischer had a hyper stylized BG style with realistic light, similar to Pixar.

▶ NAME: Grace Fleischer
▶ SPECIES: Human
▶ Supermodel with looks and confidence to kill, Grace knows she has all the stuff in all the right places and flaunts it like she was born to. That said, she seems to have a darker, angrier side liable to come out at any moment...

👊🏻 Se inspiraron en el Superman de la década del 40 de Max Fleischer.

🙌🏻 Hicieron una prueba de concepto de dos minutos que se transformó en el opening.

🎞 Cada episodio se pensó como una película de 22 minutos.

But tbh, my favorite screen incarnation of Superman is probably the Fleischer cartoons from the 40s.

It is now in vogue to claim that Superman's default appeal is "too simple." But making something convoluted and loud is easy - making something brilliantly simple is hard.
