Anomalocaris was an ancient arthropod active during the early Cambrian era. Apart from its highly abnormal shape, Anomalocaris is famous for being one of the earliest apex predators we currently know of. It's also just a lil guy.

Stumbled upon this wild fossil. Mimetaster hexagonalis was a marrellomorph arthropod, a distant relative of trilobites. This particular specimen was preserved in pyrite in the German Hunsrück Slate.

I've had Chicken on the mind, so I drew her with clothes (and chicken legs).

I also tried out the wet blotting ink brush for the coloring. I'm digging the style hard honestly!

Arthropods were simply enormous. Arthropleura, the giant millipede (up to ~2m long), crosses a fallen trunk. A 70cm scorpion, Pulmonoscorpius, cacthes the small lizard-like Westlothiana. The 1.5m eurypterid Hibbertopterus clumsily crawls onto dry land.

Here, during the Viséan age, Lower Carboniferous, swamps covered the territory that would become Scotland. They were home of unusual giants: arthropods and arborescent lycophytes grew to extraordinary sizes.

I might use the word "giant" a lot in this thread!

Happy disability pride month! I'm a disabled furry artist with Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC)! This isn't my best work, but I really wanted to draw my fursona with my AFO braces and some of my surgery scars <3
