Devastated to read of the death of Richard Corben, one of my favorite comics artists. So many great credits & indelible images, including his adaptation of Harlan Ellison's "Vic and Blood" stories, Poe & Lovecraft homages, HEAVY METAL...his style is branded into my brain.

RIP Richard Corben. I've loved everything of his I've seen but I can't talk enough about how impactful BANNER was to me when I saw it in 2001. IMO one of the best things in Marvel's publishing history.

10/31/74: Oops! The cover of CREEPY features the Avon Lady-eating monster of Strnad & Corben's "Bowser," but it's not in the issue. A bindery error resulted in another color Corben tale ("The Raven") in its place. "Bowser" wouldn't be published until VAMPIRELLA in 1976.
