The dog’s mercury plant provides early flowers as little gems to find in the forest.
This plant can grow in both the sun and the shade, and that affects if the flowers have a stamen or pistil - pollinators (bee-friends, tiny beetle-guys etc) then carry pollen from one to another

Day 12 - Eastern Redbud

In the spring, this tree becomes engulfed in tiny pink blooms that attract a variety of pollinators, including early-season butterflies. Their flowers can be eaten raw or fried, and when picked fresh, their seed pods can be eaten like peas.

day 6 - Tulip Poplar

More closely related to magnolias than to tulips or poplars, the tulip poplar is one of North America's tallest hardwood trees. It is an abundant food source for deer, birds, and other pollinators, and is also my favorite native tree species! :^)
