These are considered extinct in the wild until captive breeding and release programs are not needed. Biggest threat is the fungal disease chytridiomycosis. Only 2" long.

The Costa Rica Brook Frog has a very small population of an estimated 150 individuals or fewer, spread across a few distinct sites. Their initial decline is believed to have some relation to the chytrid fungus and habitat loss. Their population appears to be on a slow rebound.
