It only took 10 years, but I finally did a reference sheet of my species, the Smile Lizards. The planet they live in is concave, with the sun being a spherical portal that orbits a star, so the planet has pretty segmented biomes.

I think this is probably my most favourite piece of 40K art in the last decade... Assassination attempt on Asdrubael Vect. The segmented armour, the helms and the shiny blades held in a stabbing grip.. So much subtle detail that speaks volumes! 🙏

This is either a fun art direction choice, or (and I think more likely) a happy accident of the effect sampling motion vectors in the scene to give it a pulse.
