Hey Ben, thanks for hosting this! First time poster here :P I'm Alex, a Spaniard working in the games industry, now trying to get a decent portfolio piece up to my current skill level. This is a fanart of Ellie from TLoU 2. Hair is still WIP, just the base layer. Thank you again!

Tapia believes the unfortunate events over the last few days are actually Divine Provenance. God's plan to help the Spaniards by providing a translator: Aguilar. They don't realize that because Aguilar only speaks Maya, he will be useless later when dealing with Mexica.

Lakandanum

was known as the water god depicted as a serpent-like mermaid (naga). Before the Spaniards arrived, they would often throw livestock to the river as a peace offering for Lakandanum. Failure to do so resulted in long periods of drought.

I won't have enough time to finish the Valentine's day come strip, but... Don't worry. IFEMA's new safetyness normative has given me an idea 😀It's not fair that only Spaniards are having fun with this meme.

There are always mythical omens before the downfall of an ancient empire, but a few "omens" the Aztec experienced were based on actual phenomenons. In 1509, a comet was observed and recorded by Aztecs. Did it have anything to do with Spaniards arriving ten years later? Umm...no.

Ava Gardner had a special relationship with Spain, widely publiziced. I wanted to pay tribute to that aspect of her screen persona as a spaniard myself.

A Spaniard comic/franchise called "Mortadelo y Filemon"/"Mort and Phil". While the comics haven't been translated into English, the 90s cartoon series was and is on YouTube. An actually good watch.

Maya warriors charge the Spaniards at the outset of the Battle of Cintla. A detail from page 23, which will be posted this weekend.

The Nacom was a military head of a Maya city-state, in this case, Potonchan. I was unable to find the name of the Nacom for the Tabasco in 1519, so this series had to refer to him only by his title. He led the allied Maya forces against the Spaniards in the Battle of Cintla.
