Repost • Made this to wish my good friend a happy birthday, creator/performer of BIRD CALL, & the ever chirpy, Luckl, wishing his creator an ever happy hatching day, which is the bird equivalent to birthdays.

The painted version of Moonlight Hatching.

I'm going to use it as the cover art for an anthology of student writing—I taught "Wizard School" to a bunch of talented tweens and teens over the summer and this book will celebrate their words and artwork.

Commission for Malkaiwot ( https://t.co/ldJJjkr2Ti )!

An alternate version of the hatching process, and this time set in a proper castle! This one seems slightly more awkward on Malk, and she's a bit stuck atm. I'm sure she'll wiggle out of the egg eventually!

Style study - I'm thinking about maybe decreasing the amount of cross hatching that I do unless the design itself is extremely detailed. Referenced from Yodai Higashizawa but with his noise form instead. Will go back and adjust some things. (and finish, not done yet)

Thinking of working with hatching as my art style. I have a blast while creating this. Get ready for my new hatch journey haha, I'm a dork.

I remember being pretty proud of these last year when I first started hatching-style shading, tbh they’re not that bad

Took a break from another image to do this Art Fight piece for a friend, only did light hatching with and flats, but it turned out well!

(reupload 'cause I noticed janky quality issues on my phone :< )

"...They say that if you steal an egg from a dragon's nest and keep it till its hatching, a sharp-toothed creature half a man, half a lizard will lay bare. Thus, his face will be a human one, and he will growl as human too. Hideous thing!"

Here’s Adelheid Bernstein from KoF! I decided to try out some cross hatching with this one. Not confident enough to render anything on top of that yet, but I still think it turned out pretty cool. I do like just the Lineart a lot though...
