All Hail Shadow...for this spooky season. I did my take on Shadow the Hedgehog as a vampire. It was fun to do an actual halloween related post this year, but it's not the only one I'll do ;)

studies of sewing women had a rich legacy in Dutch art. It is noteworthy to compare Nicholas Maes 17th century red chalk drawing with Vincent's pencil & chalk rendition of a similar subject. Maes floods his figure in light whereas Van Gogh shades his figure in shadow.
