I think the perspective works out? It's very basic, but it beats a solid color background and at least I'm breaking some boundaries. Feel free to leave any suggestion you might have, I'm trying to figure this out as I go.

Here is a spread from Huggie & stick. In the background you'll notice a pen & a pencil falling with them. The original story, before I got it was about a pen and a pencil but changed later (obviously). This is my nod to that also it gives them something to write in their diaries.
