He painted his partner Madeleine Knoblock in 1888-90 who was an artist’s model. She moved into his studio with him in 1889. A year later they had a son. Study for his partner (1889-90), Painting of his partner (1889-90), The Seine (1888) & Le Crotoy (1889)
In 1883 he worked on his early masterpiece Bathers at Asnières. His image was of working class people relaxing, which he painted in the studio (a practice eschewed by Impressionists). The Mower (1881-2), Boy (c1882), Artist’s Mother (1882-3) & Study for Bathing (1883)
