It was originally developed as the much more story consistent "Pink Elephants" Ride as seen in this 1953/4 concept by Bruce Bushman.

Very rare to see feral elephants in intense desperation. I find them to be the cutest feral in these kinds of situations in part due to their massive size relative to other land mammals.
