Explore the night sky with
@NASAHubble’s new Caldwell catalog. Although Hubble provides images of these objects in exquisite detail, they can also be observed using modest ground-based telescopes or in some cases with binoculars or the naked eye.

Finally finished it! Pretty happy with how it turned out. Orion Nebula mosaic from Hubble in near-infrared. (Prop 13826, Robberto)

Today I decided to process an image with data from the Hubble Legacy Archive. It was definitely an interesting challenge and I’ll probably be doing this more often. #astrophotography #womeninstem #womeninscience #astronomy. Happy New Year!

#onthisday 1924 Edwin Hubble announced that the spiral nebula Andromeda was actually a galaxy, confirming that the Milky Way is just one of many galaxies in the universe 🌌 He used images like this to classify them https://t.co/PylmcK7lUA 🌌🌌
Looking for the perfect ribbon for your gifts? This is the planetary nebula NGC 5189, looking like a giant and brightly coloured ribbon in space.

#HubbleClassic With some imagination, this nebula looks like a glass-blown holiday ornament wrapped in a ribbon. Called NGC 5189, the intricate structure is actually glowing gas expelled by a dying Sun-like star. https://t.co/2DIpbnUGGl
#Space: #Hubble’s sharpest view of the #Orion #Nebula. Jaws = dropped!

Galaxies evolve, too, in a way
@NASA image shows spiral galaxies in a massive gravitational tug-of-war. The spiral galaxy on top seems to have the upper hand, and will likely ultimately incorporate the lower one
