I found a method to make some decent looking fur for my new outfit. I took a cone and reshaped it, used an array modifier and ran it along a path and distorted some of the cards here and there. I then painted the alpha channeled textured in photoshop.

I actually started this one with a flat drawing I made months ago so you can sort of see the process of how it was made! :) Lots of blending out the smooth lines and overpainting with textured brushes, as well as adding color to shaded areas (ambient occlusion). Hope it helps!
