Jeff Smith - BONE was such an important comic to me growing up. influenced a lot of my favorite aspects of both humor, mild horror, and environmental storytelling. just. fantastic stuff. more people should mash 'conflicting' artstyles together.

This wasn't designed to look like a loong, or Chinese dragon. At best, Charizard is influenced by western dragons.

Gen 1 wouldn't have been designed with any long-running theme, though, because it wasn't planned with sequels. It was stand-alone project.

This design choice could've been originally made because the Wiggler artwork from Super Mario World has the pink flower and the Paper Mario series was heavily influenced by the art styles of SMW and Yoshi's Island up until that point.
