Rinpa School, Japan. The Ogata Korin goes further & implies the bridge, poetically recreating w irises folding in & out on the screens. This link translates the original poem and lays out the "Iris" structure. 3/4

Works by the Rinpa School, Japan were purchased by wealthy merchants, eager to prove their cultural knowledge. Here Ogata Korin references a poem from the Tales of Ise based on an 8-plank bridge over irises, a man missing his wife, uses syllables of "iris" to create the poem.2/4
The Rinpa School, Edo Period (1603-1867), Japan specialized in works that were decorative & highly intellectual, referencing classic literary works of the Heian/Kamakura Periods. Stylistically, they mixed 2D forms w 3D areas created by tarashikomi, a wet-on-wet technique. 1/4

I’ve been in a weird funk lately and also been super busy, so super sorry about that. I tried getting back into the swing of things by just doing some design stuff and pretty much reconstructing an old OC I made in middle school, so here :)
I always liked drawing and making up stories, so when I was first introduced to manga in elementary school, I was so excited that there’s a thing where I can do BOTH.
Growing up in Japan manga was a really common thing, so wanting to become a mangaka came naturally. https://t.co/k3RbJbYncd
Heya!
Here's an illustration I've done for school, we had to create a fake book cover for a rewriting of Frankenstein from Mary Shelley, it was truly a lot of fun! ^^

@webtooncanvas ✍️I've been an artist since before I started school, as soon as I picked up a pencil. Art has always been my hobby. I have been making comics off & on throughout my life starting from the 4th grade! 😇It just gives me a thrill like no other to have your imagination come to life!
@webtooncanvas Making comics is literally my childhood dream! I started drawing manga in high school, but publishing was difficult and I had no money or skill to self publish.
There's no way to describe how happy I am when reading comics! I want to share that with everybody!
