It’s day two! The prompt is “little-known”, and I’ve just illustration for that. Most people hear “arachnid” and think “spider”, but DYK there are a whole bunch of arachnid orders? Here are just a few of the weird arachnids you might not know about!

Sharing an old piece for an ashy storm petrel. In 2005 I interned with seabird biologists, spending a few nights on Scorpion Rock helping to catch and band a few birds. They're extremely rare and only nest in sea caves on the islands.

Mitilanotherium inexpectatum, a giraffid from the Plio-Pleistocene of Europe. First discovered in Eastern Europe, its remains have also been found in the Guadix-Baza basin in Spain, which has some of the best Lower Pleistocene sites in the world.
