@BBC6Music @laurenlaverne Got to love a Cryptic frog. And a daring out there dont-eat me warning coloured frog! I love the science nuggets from @sophiescott on #TheMathsofLife. Here are two Ive done #naturalhistoryillustrations of in the past - one of each.
This is the #Poplar #HawkMoth #Laothoepopuli, showing a hint of those bright orange flashes on the wings. Adults often rest with their abdomens turned upwards too, all in all an odd resting position. Because of its big size & the way they hold their wings it's unmistakable
New blog out, all about #illustrating the #carboncycle and the challenges of this:

From #soilhealth to #microorganisms, #detritivores to #mycorrhizae, #fossilfuel to #leaflitter, #leaffall to #photosynthesis. Super tricky job, but a fab challenge.
#Spotted #Loosestrife #lysmachia punctuata, sketchbook #botanicalillustration of this pretty #wildflower - an #invasiveplant in Sweden. Petals have tiny glandular in the margins, flowers grow from leaf axils, leaves are downy and dusty green, and the root mass is flushed pink
@BSBIbotany @wildflower_hour @botanicalmartin Hello UK botanists - HELP! I'm in need of photos of #Cannockchaseberry Vaccinium x intermedium hybrid as I need to illustrate it on monday, & theres v. little visual ref out there. Any correctly i.d. images SO gratefully received!
New step-by-step film and associated blog out, on doing a #naturalhistoryillustration of the lovely #SpottedFlycatcher #Muscicapastriata

All about the amazing #fungi in #Cusop churchyard with my #botanicalillustrations of #earthstar, #Tricholomopsis, and #Marasmiushudsoni. The #Geastrum is quite the rarity!
@bernoid Ooh! That one looks familiar! I got to paint one of these recently
#Travellers joy or #Oldmansbeard #clematis vitalba #sketchbook #botanicalillustration. This #wildflower is common in the UK but considered an #invasives in Sweden. Loved doing this...til I realised I'd drawn it up on the back of a sheet with Goldenrod on the other side! #idiot!
This is my #naturalhistoryillustration of the #Redwing #turdusiliacus. A winter visitor to the uk, flocks can be seen gorging on rowan and other seasonal berries. The white eyebrow, small size (for a thrush), and red underwing flash make then easy to identify.
