Last work of 2022, first work of 2023! An attempt to emulate the style of Mario Odyssey’s concept art, and I think it turned out decently well! May have followed a bit too close to the reference image, but I’m rather happy with it nonetheless.
When an old game is emulated or rereleased in hd, we aren't seeing how it was like, we are seeing what was behind what it was like, which isn't the same thing, those games weren't meant for 4k screens we are taking the curtain off.
On the topic of making things easier to recognize at a distance; eyes. The glowing green eyes contrasted by the red round glasses make it another feature to look out for. The glow is more visible at night ofcourse, this is to emulate animal eyes to help see in the darkness.

tried to quickly sketch the fake digimon i made as a kid called Flopmon. Yrs ago i was playing i think an emulated Digimon Dusk w/ cheats and when I was trying to make a terriermon and lopmon create an egg, the game created a glitch egg instead & thats where I got the idea from.
