Gunbird

Visually charming Psikyo game. First loop is somewhat standard but the second one has some insane quick bullets.

Although very basic, it's good. I know Gunbird 2 gets more mechanically unique so I'm all for it. Still, this one should be a great for shmup starters.

There is, unfortunately, a part of the shmup community that are vehemently against "moeshit" shmups, including Touhou. The fact that you don't control a air/spacecraft blowing up giant robots being a deal breaker for them is rather sad, to be honest.
