Popped in the Static Shock: The Complete Fourth Season DVD earlier, just to skim through some episodes. "Fallen Hero" is such a top-tier episode, up and down. I still smile at the decoder ring gag, but it also gets me a little misty-eyed.

Revisiting the first episode of Static Shock this morning and, all told, it's a solid debut for the series. The character work and subject matter, especially for Virgil, really hits hard, the gags work and the cliffhanger is aces.
