Maybe its the Smallwood tutorials, but I took the Lex Luthor sketch and fiddled w/ a Ryan Sook technique for a warm up.

Sook does this deceptively simple thing: rim light + dark render outline + cross hatched interior = cool art? AH and Travel Foreman does this now and then too.
