My first real exposure to Neal Adams' art was when I was 16 and Coming of the Supermen hit my shop. I was hooked based on the cover alone, and it led me down a rabbit hole of trying to copy the way he drew every DC character. He was one of the all-time greats.
When it comes to Neal Adams art, I always think of this panel. It’s an extremely cinematic angle for a comic drawn in 1969. He broke the mold when it came to energetic photorealism in comics.
Totally fair for Waid to go into this book knowing Neal Adams was drawing it and start with a splash of one of the best FF villains followed by a big spread. These are so gorgeous.
He’s also responsible for drawing one of my favorite Batman covers of all time.

When Neil Adams burst onto the scene, his art took my breath away. I’d never seen anything like it. So glad I had a chance to meet him and get his autograph at Ottawa Comic-Con, though I was too tongue-tied to actually speak to him. RIP.

Legendary Comic Artist Neal Adams has sadly passed away at 80. His work on 'GREEN LANTERN/GREEN ARROW' and 'BATMAN' changed comics and continues to inspire art to this day.
