求龍堂さんから発行されている「熊谷守一カレンダー2018」は、今月の「櫻」（油彩画、1951年、熊谷守一つけち記念館蔵）の図柄となりました。
明日（4/2）は熊谷守一の誕生日です。4/14からは愛媛県美術館さんで熊谷守一展が、5/19からは映画の公開もあり、楽しみが続きますね。

《curl-up》(1951)に登場するこの架空の生き物。脇の説明によると学名をペダルテルノロタンドモヴェンス・ケントロクラトゥス・アルティクラトゥスというようです。階段は足を使い、平面ではでんぐり返しをするように丸まって移動します。ちなみに和名は「でんぐりでんぐり」です。
