Study from today. Tried to focus on face structure and lighting/shadows. The drawing assist grid in Procreate was very useful for getting things in the right place.

As an example, let's use default sprite positioning, but with grid engine for positioning and AoE (with grid highlight for demonstration purposes)

There won't be a next time but next time I'll do it straight first and then apply a filter or something as the final step, to generate the effect.
Starting with a spherical grid = no more straight-line tools = chopping off a hand of mine.
