Depends on the piece, but typically I use under 20 layers (this is also counting layers that I end up merging together) if I'm doing a more painting sort thing (like the last one) it typically takes under 30 layers

the most layers i'll actively use is 6 tops? but i usually end up merging all my colouring/rendering layers together and having a folder w 60 backup layers
