I know. It's insane. Masao Saito, who did the first and last image, is THE Japanese 80's airbrush virtuoso imo—he's published several books of hyperreal airbrush illustrations (all $300+ now) but his food stuff is my favorite.

Soft gradient/loose painterly coloring

Right: Hard, textured lines, minimal line weight variation
Minimal gradient shading + cel shade with watercolor fringe for that slight edge
