Obviously, it's nice to see more details in the background. But blurring does help keep the focus on the part of the game that actually matters to the player, I guess. And hide less detailed assets. Left is Xbox trailer. Right is Edge magazine.

This picture makes me glad I got pastels for the background. I worked on this one entirely in colored pencils and it took nearly 3 weeks to complete as a result.
