First of all, draw a head more bigger than neck. Draw the top lip protruding out further a bit more than bottom lip but sometimes i won't do 🤣 A curve for the nose and also the chin + jaw. The neck moves inward towards to body,and then starts to move outward from the collar bone

The only BIG differences I see are his smaller eyes & hands, but even then, he still definitely looks like mario, everything is pretty accurate, it just FEELS different because its detailed, like his shirt collar for example.
