1937年に建造された樺太庁の漁業取締船「第三鈴谷丸」です。
北の海の船らしく砕氷型船首を持つ、ミニ砕氷船という感じの船ですが、船自体が小型（62トン）なため砕氷能力はそう高くはなかっただろうと思われます。
当時漁業関係の船の建造実績でよく知られていた三菱重工彦島造船所製です。
