You can think of most pixelart with outlines as 1-bit art with added color :) Very easy to see in old ZX spectrum pixelart.

Green actually. Blue is a scrapped female character that only appears in the comics and FR/LG. The only reason Gary is called blue in America is bc we didn't get green(game). But this is why his outline shadow thing is always green instead of blue, like his Red's is red.

from is one of the most fun and creatively-inspiring games I have run. I am playing it right now with my middle school enrichment kids, and they are absolutely loving it. Plus, teamwork is very VERY clearly outlined as a key NEED for the game.
